Early Childhood Education Extensions
Here at St. Francis, our Early Childhood Education Extended care program (3-5 year olds) provides a Christ-centered, safe, and nurturing environment for preschool students when they are not in session at St. Francis of Assisi Preschool. ECE is an Iowa DHS-certified program.
We encourage ongoing social, creative, and physical development through age-appropriate, engaging and fun activities in a structured yet flexible routine.
The ECE program provides breakfast, morning snack, lunch, and an afternoon snack. During our time together, children participate in group time, small group activities, large motor time in the Parish Hall or, weather permitting, outside on the preschool playground, and free play. We follow a creative curriculum called Frog Street.
We offer a wonderful summer program for your incoming preschool and pre K students (must be 3 y/o. and fully potty trained). Preschoolers stay on campus throughout the entire summer having visitors, engaging enrichment activities, and on site “field trips”. We also have water days every Tuesday and Thursday.
Teachers have an education in comprehensive childcare, early childhood development and appropriate practices as well as curriculum-specific training and certifications. All Early Childhood Education staff have certified training (First Aid, CPR, Universal Precautions, Essentials and Mandatory Child Abuse reporting). All staff are required to maintain qualifications with annual continuous training hours.
If you have any questions or want to learn more about our programming, contact Jessica Riemenschneider, Early Childhood Education Extended Care Director, at jriemenschneider@saintfrancisschool.org . We would love to have your child be a part of the ECE program!
