ANNOUNCEMENTS
Connection Cafe Thank You: This year, SFA donated 3,937 toiletry items to the Connection Café! This is a 10% increase over last year. These toiletries are an easy way for the clients to have access to and practice good hygiene. Please continue to fill the GREEN BIN in the Gathering Place outside of the church throughout the summer. The GREEN BIN at the SFA School will return at the start of the school year. Have terrific summer and remember as you go on your family vacations to gather your unused toiletry items. Thanks again for your generous donations!

Middle School Summer Math Prep: June 3 -June 25. Keep your student’s math skills sharp this summer as they learn and prepare for next fall’s math curriculum. Classes will be offered at DCHS and are to provide background and enrichment. Students should sign up for the class they will be taking in the fall:

  • 8:15  Junior High Math,         9:15  Algebra,       10:15 Geometry

2019/20 Uniform and Spirit Wear Order Deadline is July 1st! Orders will be available for pick up on August 1st at Image Solutions or will be delivered to SFA on School Supply Drop off. Uniform orders can placed throughout the school year with a 3-4 week turnaround time. MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS: P.E.Orders must be placed by the July 1st deadline. Only a very limited inventory is available after that date. To ensure your child has the correct size, plus a size to grow into, please order by the deadline. Sizing samples are available at the showroom. Please email prior to visiting and we’ll make sure someone is here to help.

New Spirit Wear is now available online! Proceeds benefit SFA Home & School. A second spirit wear order will be placed by September 15, with delivery in mid-October.

Medication: If your child has medication that they have kept in the school office, it will be sent home in their backpack on the last day of school.  Please check their backpack for these medications and then return any needed medications (with a medication authorization form) in August when school starts again. DCHS Varsity Boys Baseball Pack the Park: June 10th.  Games are at 5p & 7p. Free admission for grades K-8th if they are wearing a Dowling t-shirt. Come cheer on the team as they play a double header against Johnston. Arrive early to get a seat in the bleachers between home plate and first base, or bring a lawn chair and sit behind the outfield fence.

Lunch auto debit: The final auto debit of the school year is scheduled for June 7th. The amount debited on June 7th will be the amount owed in your lunch account on the last day of school. If there is a credit in your account it will carry over to next year.

2019-2020 School Supply Order is now available (School Id STF024). Be sure to order supplies for the grade your student will be 2019-2020 school year. An email confirmation will be sent with every order as a receipt. Please be aware that if you did not receive an email confirmation, your order was not placed. Boxes will be available for pick up on August 22nd  (teacher/supply drop off day).  The ordering deadline is June 7th. No extra orders are placed. JA BizTown Summer Camp for Students going into 5th-7th Grade: JA BizTown Summer Camp is an academic camp designed to enhance the camper’s financial literacy skills while infusing entrepreneurship, work and career readiness, team work, marketing, philanthropy and public speaking. This camp has sold out each year, but limited spots remain in June and July. St. Francis families should use the special code JUNE20 to get $20 off the June 10-13 camp. Register here.

Dowling Catholic Band Bash: July 22-26 from 12:30p-2:30p in the Dowling Catholic High School Band Room. Open to Student Musicians of All Skill-Levels Entering Grades 6 – 8 in Fall 2019.

FAITH & OUTREACH
St. Francis of Assisi Vacation Bible SchoolJune 24th-28th, 9a-Noon, for children entering grades pre-K-6th grade this fall. Registrations received by June 7th will include a VBS t-shirt for each participant and a music cd per family. Registrations will be accepted after June 7th, but a t-shirt and music cd will not be included. Please email  or call the Faith Formation Office at 515-440-1030 with any questions.

Discovering Spiritual Gifts: Will be held on Sat, June 8th from 9a – 1:30p (light lunch included) at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Clare Room. Space is limited.  Please register here.

The Connection Café is a free lunch program that serves the homeless and low income community downtown.

  • On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, a group from St. Francis of Assisi Church, serves a warm meal and brings supplies to the Connection Café.
  • Each month, an email is sent out requesting help. Students can receive service hours by baking cookies, making the main dish, bagging trail mix, or laundry detergent.

Contact Stacey Dorsey to be added to the e-mail distribution list.
Donate unused hotel toiletries (mini shampoos, soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc.) to either of the GREEN bins outside the school office or in the Gathering Space by the Church.
