Spring Break Toiletries Drive for the Connection CaféAre you going somewhere for Spring Break? Consider donating unused hotel toiletries (mini shampoos, soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc.) to The Connection Cafe. GREEN bins are located by the school office and in the Gathering Space by the Church.

Since the start of the school year, SFA has already donated over 2,920 toiletry items to the Connection Café! Thank you for the difference you make in our community! 

Riptide 2019 Summer Season Tryouts: Thursday, March 28 from 7p-8:30p or Saturday, March 30th from 11a-1p.

DCHS Spring Volleyball Clinic will be held March 31st – April 28th in Dowling’s main gym

  • 3rd – 5th Grade: 5p-6:30p
  • 6th – 8th Grade: 6:30p-8p

Catholic Football League Registration Opens April 1st take advantage of our early registration discount and check out the important dates for the upcoming season.

  • 1st – 5th graders will play flag or transitional flag again this Fall
  • 6th and 7th grade teams will play tackle within the Mid Iowa Youth Football League.

5TH Grade Parents: an informational meeting about the final transition from Flag to Tackle within the CFL will be held on Sunday April 28th at 6pm in the Dowling cafeteria. Our hope is to share plans for the upcoming 6th grade season and answer any questions you may have about playing tackle football within the CFL.  If you have any questions regarding the CFL, please reach out to Andy Jepson

Knights of Columbus Scholarship is offered to help encourage enrollment in Catholic High Schools and to help defray the cost of a college education.  Council 12422 will award 3 $1500 scholarships in 2019. Two to Saint Francis of Assisi Parish member, who is in 8th grade and will be attending Dowling Catholic and a third to a Saint Francis of Assisi Parish member, who is a high school senior going to any college or university.  The scholarship will be awarded to someone who has shown a balance of good character service and academics.  Please click on the link above for more information.

2019-2020 Tuition Assistance Applications (CTO) are available starting February 1st.  Application deadline is April 5th. Go to use School Code: 450, Password: CTO450 to apply.

2018-19 yearbooks are now available to order! The St. Francis School code is 12546419 and the cost per book is $27.00. Yearbooks will be delivered to school in May.

Please consider sharing candid photos of our students taken at school sponsored events for publication in the yearbook. Send photos to or upload them at and use the activation code SOXMPV.

St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church is looking to hire a Special Needs Ministry Coordinator. This person would:

  • coordinate the parish’s efforts in being welcoming for persons with special needs and facilitate those needs being met by the parish.
  • coordinate the curriculum calendar and lesson plans for persons with special needs in the Youth and High School Faith Formation programs and be present on Wednesday evenings to ensure active participation of persons with special needs in catechesis.
  • ensure the involvement in parish life of persons with special needs, influence the welcoming atmosphere of the parish, and guide staff and volunteers in meeting the needs of persons with special needs.

A Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field is required and experience in serving students with challenging behavior is preferred. Experience in catechesis is preferred. The Connection Café is a free lunch program that serves the homeless and low income community downtown.

  • On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, a group from St. Francis of Assisi Church, serves a warm meal and brings supplies to the Connection Café.
  • Each month, an email is sent out requesting help. Students can receive service hours by baking cookies, making the main dish, bagging trail mix, or laundry detergent.
