Friday, October 5th: SFA Track a Thon

SFA Book Fair will be open during Francisfest on Sunday, October 7th from 4-7 and also during Parent/Teacher Conferences Monday, October 8th, Tuesday, October 9th and Thursday, October 11th.

There are many wonderful titles for all ages.  Students will be making wishlists during their library time next week. A portion of the sales will support new books for our school library!  We hope to see you at the book fair!

DCHS Pancake Breakfast- Sunday, October 28th 7:30a-1p: Please join us for the 57th annual Pancake Breakfast in the Varied Industries Building at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. Enjoy a morning of fellowship and community in support of teachers and students! Tickets are available at the door.

Dowling Catholic’s Annual Open House for Prospective Students-Sunday, November 4th 11a-2p:  Families will tour the school, meet the teachers, moderators, and coaches and learn about tuition assistance.  There are prizes to win and games to play!  It’s a fun day for the whole family!

Help SFA win $25,000 from UnityPoint Health! The contest runs through Sept. 30 and there is no limit to how many times you can vote! Thank you for helping – vote online today!

Non-public transportation reimbursement forms are due by Dec 1. Parents, if you live 2 miles or more from St. Francis, please complete the form and submit to the school district in which you reside. This is done twice a year.  If you have questions regarding your reimbursement, please contact your resident school district.

SFA Track-a-thon Fundraiser  Thank you to all who have donated! So far we have raised $7,885!! That is with only 20% of families donating, so imagine what that number could be if we have 100% participation!! Next week is the final week to turn in donations. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated and will go directly to fund school programs, field trips, and safety updates. Help us reach our goal of $10,000 to watch Mrs. Hade or Mr. Aldrich get splatted during the egg challenge! Donation forms and envelopes can be returned to your child’s teacher any time before Oct. 5th. If you did not receive a donation form this week or need another one, please email Christa.

This is a family friendly event and all family members are invited to attend and run, walk, or cheer on their students! Schedule of events:

  • Grades K-2 – 9a-10a
  • Grades 3-5 – 10a-11a
  • Grades 6-8 – 11a-12p

Students will be eating a sack lunch outside at the playground during their normal lunch times.

SFA Conference Meal Sign-UpLet’s show our appreciation to our fabulous staff at St. Francis School! Please consider signing up to help with some yummy treats or food for the upcoming conference meals on Monday, October 8th and Tuesday, October 9th. All items will need to be delivered to the parish kitchen by 3:15 p.m. on the day of your sign-up. Your help is greatly appreciated!Please contact Lindsay Struecker with any questions.

SFA Bid 4 the Kids Class Gift Coordinators: We are in need of representatives to help coordinate class gifts for the auction on February 2, 2019. Please contact Sara Tamisiea. We are in need of gift coordinators for K, 1, 3, 5, 6, 7 & 8th. Thank you!

  • Order Form: Submit your order and check (payable to SFA Home and School) with your child by Monday at 10am for Friday delivery. Thank you for all your support of the SCRIP program throughout the year!
  • Check for additional retailers available for on-line purchase. (Larger denomination cards are also available on-line.)

The Connection Café is a free lunch program that serves the homeless and low income community downtown.

  • On the 3rd Wednesday of each month, a group from St. Francis of Assisi Church, serves a warm meal and brings supplies to the Connection Café.
  • Each month, an email is sent out requesting help. Students can receive service hours by baking cookies, making the main dish, bagging trail mix, or laundry detergent.

Donate unused hotel toiletries (mini shampoos, soap, lotion, toothpaste, etc.) to either of the GREEN bins outside the school office or in the Gathering Space by the Church.
