The Second Grade year is filled with wonderful sacramental experiences for your child. We will be extending your child’s faith journey through preparation for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. The students will prepare in the classroom, during sacramental retreats and through weekly mass reflections.
Within the classroom setting, we will provide an integrated curriculum. The students will receive instruction in the following areas: religion, balanced literacy, math, science and social studies. Our goal is to integrate technology and media while promoting a growth mindset in all of our students.
A Second Grade highlight is the Annual Biography Fair. Students develop their research, reading, writing and art skills while learning about an important individual in history. Students dress as their researched person and present information to friends and family during an hour long biography fair. This day provides lifelong memories for the students!
Positive Behavior Intervention Supports, PBIS, is a school-wide management system geared towards acknowledging and reinforcing positive behavior. It is a system that demands consistency from all staff members and students. Students will be rewarded with individual and class tickets, as well as verbal praise for positive behaviors. Intrinsic motivation and rewards are the ultimate goal; however, students will celebrate their successes by visiting a prize cart and having class parties to redeem tickets earned.
